How does Catholic social action help to build a more equitable society, especially for the most marginalised in our midst?
Charity is at the centre of the churches' mission. Yet, charitable activities do not remain the same over time as new forms have to arise in response to new needs.
The aim of the CSAN Conference 2009 was to explore the range of our responses, especially the ways we can develop new ones, to meet the needs we encounter and the questions posed by our political and social cultures.
This two-day conference held on 4-5 June 2009 provided delegates with the time and space to explore how they and/or their organisations can contribute to tackling exclusion while managing the tension between the teaching of the Church and the demands of an increasingly secular world. It also provided space to consider the implications for the services that we have to deliver.
Speakers included:
Christine Allen, Progressio
Professor Willy Geysen, Caritas Belgium
Dr James Hanvey SJ
Mark McGreevy, Depaul Foundation
Audio:
Adriana Opromolla, Social Policy Analyst, Caritas Europe
Dr Patrick Riordan, SJ
Kerry Robinson, Executive Director, National Leadership Roundtable on Church Management
